1. Data Controller

Strike Tracker is operated from the Netherlands. For the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable data protection laws, the data controller is:

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

• Usage Data: How you interact with the App, features used, pages visited, and performance data
• Device Information: Device type, operating system, browser type, and app version
• Location Data: General location (country level) for country-specific strike information — only if you choose to share it
• Push Notification Tokens: Device tokens for delivering strike notifications, collected only when you opt in to notifications

We do not collect names, email addresses, passwords, or other personally identifiable information unless you voluntarily provide it (e.g., via the contact form).

3. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

We process your data based on the following legal grounds:

• Consent: For push notifications and optional location sharing. You can withdraw consent at any time through your device settings.
• Legitimate Interest: For usage analytics and performance monitoring, to improve the App and ensure its security (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
• Contract Performance: To provide the App's core functionality as described in our Terms of Use.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and improve the App's functionality
• Send you relevant strike notifications and updates (when opted in)
• Respond to questions and feedback you send us through the contact form
• Analyze usage patterns to enhance user experience
• Ensure the App's security and prevent misuse
• Generate aggregated, anonymized statistics (which may be published in blog posts and reports)

5. Information Sharing

We do not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise transfer your personal information to third parties. We may share data only:

• When required by law, regulation, or legal process
• To protect our rights, safety, or the safety of our users
• With your explicit consent

6. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with the following categories of third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

• Analytics: Two privacy-friendly, cookieless systems. Our own server-side analytics records aggregate page view counts and never leaves our servers. In addition, Fathom Analytics measures our human audience; it is cookieless, does not store IP addresses, and does not build cross-site profiles of visitors
• Push Notifications: Apple Push Notification Service (APNs) for iOS, Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) for Android
• AI Processing: OpenAI (GPT) and Anthropic (Claude) APIs for AI-powered data collection and content generation (see our AI Transparency & Disclosure)
• Hosting & Infrastructure: Web hosting services for data storage and delivery

Data sent to third-party services is limited to what is necessary for the service to function. AI processing is used for public strike data, not for profiling users.

Contact form messages. Messages you send us are used only to answer your inquiry. To research an answer (for example, to check whether a strike you ask about is still confirmed), we may run the text of your question through an AI assistant. When we do, we remove your name, email address and any other details that identify you, and only the question itself is processed. Your contact details are never shared with AI providers, added to any mailing list or used for any other purpose.

Affiliate links. Some strike pages on our website contain a link to AirHelp, a flight compensation service. These links are marked as "Partner link". If you click one and use their service, we may earn a commission; this does not change what you pay. We do not send AirHelp any personal data — the link only carries a partner identifier. Once you leave our site, AirHelp's own privacy policy applies.

7. Data Retention

We retain your data only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy:

• Usage/analytics data: Raw request logs are kept for up to 90 days, then automatically deleted. Anonymous aggregate statistics derived from them (daily totals per page, referrer domain, language and device type) contain no personal data and are retained indefinitely for long-term trend reporting.
• Fathom Analytics data: Aggregate, non-personal visit statistics held by Fathom under their own privacy policy
• Push notification tokens: Retained while you have notifications enabled; deleted when you uninstall the App or revoke notification permissions
• Contact form submissions: Retained for up to 12 months after your inquiry is resolved, then deleted

8. International Data Transfers

Strike Tracker operates from the Netherlands and serves users in multiple countries. Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your country of residence, including countries outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Where such transfers occur, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, including Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or adequacy decisions recognized by the European Commission.

9. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your information:

• Encryption of data in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
• Regular security assessments and updates
• Limited access to personal information on a need-to-know basis

10. Your Rights

Under the GDPR and other applicable data protection laws, you have the right to:

• Access your personal data and request a copy
• Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data
• Erase your personal data ("right to be forgotten")
• Restrict processing of your data
• Data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
• Object to processing based on legitimate interest
• Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing prior to withdrawal
• Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in the Netherlands, this is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (Dutch Data Protection Authority)

11. Cookies and Tracking (Website)

Our website (striketracker.app) does not use analytics cookies. We use two privacy-friendly analytics systems, neither of which sets a cookie or identifies you personally.

The first is our own server-side system, which never sends anything to a third party. It:

• Does not set any cookies
• Does not use JavaScript-based tracking
• Does not store IP addresses or any other identifiers
• Does not use fingerprinting or pseudonymization
• Does not track individual users across sessions or pages
• Records only aggregate page view counts (path, referrer domain, language, device type, timestamp)
• Does not share any data with third parties

The second is Fathom Analytics, a third-party service that runs a small script in your browser. Because our server-side system cannot tell a person from an automated crawler, Fathom is what tells us how many actual people visit. It is cookieless, does not store IP addresses, does not fingerprint visitors, and does not track anyone across other websites or sell data. We rely on legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) for this aggregate audience measurement. Because nothing is stored on or read from your device, it does not require consent under the ePrivacy Directive. If you block analytics scripts, the site works exactly the same.

The only cookies used on this website are essential session cookies for administrator authentication, which are not used for tracking visitors.

12. Mobile App Specifics

The iOS and Android apps do not use browser cookies. Data collection in the mobile apps is limited to the categories described in Section 2 above. Push notification permissions are managed through your device's system settings.

13. Children's Privacy

Our App is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that we have inadvertently collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Policy.
