B.C.’s 9‑1‑1 call‑takers and dispatchers, represented by CUPE 8911, issued a 72‑hour strike notice and will be in a legal strike position from 15:29 on 8 June 2026. Any job action could affect emergency call taking and dispatch at E‑Comm 9‑1‑1 across Metro Vancouver and other communities it serves. The union cites staffing, workload and service reliability concerns and has asked the Labour Minister to appoint a special mediator.
