The Ardèche Bar’s indefinite work stoppage in criminal procedures, launched on 17 April 2026 to oppose the government’s “SURE” bill, has been toughened. From 23 April, lawyers also refuse to cover minors’ free hearings and first-appearance interrogations, with rallies set in Privas on 30 April and 7 May; assizes sessions remain exempt.

On 23 April 2026, the Ardèche Bar escalated its indefinite strike against the “SURE” criminal justice bill by broadening the boycott: in addition to certain criminal hearings, lawyers will no longer cover minors’ free hearings and first-appearance interrogations, with rallies planned in Privas on 30 April and 7 May.
