Italy: Electrolux workers hold 8-hour national strike on 12 May after 1,700-job cuts plan

FIM-CISL, FIOM-CGIL and UILM-UIL have called an 8-hour national strike at all Italian Electrolux plants on Monday 12 May 2026 after the Swedish multinational announced a sweeping Italian restructuring plan that includes the closure of the Cerreto d'Esi (Marche) plant and approximately 1,700 layoffs — nearly 40% of the 4,000-4,500 Italian workforce. Plants in Forlì (~400 jobs at risk), Solaro (700 employees), Susegana, Porcia and Cerreto d'Esi will all participate. Unions declared a state of permanent agitation, demand direct government intervention, and call the plan "unacceptable".
