Tuscany: CGIL regional general strike on 14 October 2026 (local transport stops for 4 hours)

CGIL has called a regional general strike across Tuscany on Wednesday 14 October 2026, covering public and private sectors for the whole working day. For local public transport the stoppage is limited to four hours, with each operator setting its own slot; the strike notice explicitly excludes GEST, the operator of Florence's tramway.

Why: under the slogan "La protesta non è reato" (protest is not a crime), CGIL is backing the dozens of people — workers, pensioners, students and union members — summoned to a preliminary hearing in Massa on 14 October over the 3 October 2025 demonstration against the war in Gaza that reached Massa railway station. A march starts at 09:00 in Piazza Garibaldi, Massa.

What to expect: four-hour stoppages on Autolinee Toscane, Tiemme and other bus networks around the region, with guaranteed bands published by each operator a few days before; regional trains may also be affected during the day. CGIL is the only union calling the strike, so disruption is expected to be partial.
