Venice: Marco Polo Airport security staff strike on 22 November 2026 (moved from 16 October)
In 46 daysLast Updated:
Security screening staff employed by the contractor Sicuritalia IVRI at Venice Marco Polo Airport are called to a 24-hour strike on Sunday 22 November 2026, proclaimed by Fisascat-CISL. The strike was first set for 16 October; the union filed the new date with the transport ministry on 5 October and the 16 October entry has been removed from the ministry's strike register. It follows a four-hour stoppage by the same staff on 13 September.
What to expect: flights are not cancelled by a security strike, but queues at the security checkpoints can be much longer for departing passengers, especially in the morning peak; the airport normally deploys management and other staff to keep lanes open. Arrive earlier than usual and check SAVE's airport notices.
This alert was originally created on 24 September 2026.
