Venice: Marco Polo Airport security strike on 13 September 2026 (10:00–14:00)

Security screening staff employed by Sicuritalia IVRI at Venice Marco Polo Airport stop work for four hours on Sunday 13 September 2026, from 10:00 to 14:00, in a strike called by Fisascat-CISL.

The union says the airport's security contract is understaffed and shifts are changed at short notice: on busy days only a few of the eleven X-ray lanes are open, queues at security regularly run to an hour, and staff face abuse from frustrated passengers. The strike is aimed at both the contractor and SAVE, the airport operator.

Expect longer queues at security in the late morning and early afternoon. Flights themselves are not on strike, but passengers may miss them if they arrive late: allow extra time before departures in the 10:00–14:00 window. Flights in the protected bands (07:00–10:00 and 18:00–21:00) are not affected.
