Train drivers at Vy are on strike from Friday 18 September 2026 after mediation between Spekter/Vy and the drivers' union Norsk Lokomotivførerforbund broke down at midnight. The strike is open-ended and can be widened day by day.

What is affected

  • Friday 18 September: 107 departures cancelled. RE10 Drammen–Lillehammer is worst hit (29 cancellations, few or no trains between Eidsvoll and Lillehammer); cancellations also on L1, L2, R12, R13, R14, R21, R22, R23, RE11 and RE20 in Eastern Norway and on L4 Bergen–Arna.
  • Saturday 19 September: more lines added, including 36 cancellations on L2 Stabekk–Ski.
  • 46 drivers are out in the first phase (Hamar, Oslo, Flytoget and single depots elsewhere); a few Flytoget airport-express departures can be affected.
  • Vy is not running replacement buses. Cancelled departures are marked in the Vy app and journey planner on the first day and then removed from search results — check before every journey, as the list changes daily.

Why

The union wants more predictable rosters and equal pay after the merger of Vy and Flytoget ("employees shall not pay for the merger"); Spekter says the drivers are asking for a settlement three times higher than other groups this year.
