Basque Country: municipal workers announce stoppages and strike days over 'Udalhitz' agreement

ELA and LAB have called strike days and stoppages in the municipal sector across the Basque Country (Álava, Bizkaia, Gipuzkoa), demanding renewal of the Udalhitz framework agreement that has been stalled since 2008 with no update despite more than a year of negotiations. Main strike days are 14 May and 4 June 2026 (full-day stoppages), with an additional 2-hour partial on 23 April. Demands include recovering lost purchasing power, reducing working hours, guaranteeing a €1,500/month minimum for subcontracted workers, and halting further privatisation.
