Cornwall: Go Cornwall Bus overtime and rest-day ban from 2 October 2026 (RMT recognition dispute)

From Friday 2 October 2026, RMT members at Go Cornwall Bus (part of Go-Ahead) will refuse overtime and rest-day working and take their full meal breaks — action short of a strike with no end date. RMT members voted for both strike action and action short of a strike after the company refused to recognise the union, despite a TUC Disputes Committee verdict in January 2026 in RMT's favour.

What to expect: this is not a strike, so buses continue to run, but rural bus networks rely heavily on overtime to cover the timetable, so some journeys may be cancelled at short notice, particularly on evenings and weekends. Go Cornwall Bus posts cancellations on its website and app. Strike dates could follow if the dispute is not resolved.
