TransPennine Express: conductors strike on Sundays 11, 18 and 25 October 2026 (4 October suspended)
In 7 daysLast Updated:
RMT members working as conductors at TransPennine Express (TPE) will strike on Sundays 11, 18 and 25 October 2026. A fourth strike day on Sunday 4 October was suspended on 2 October after TPE agreed to go back to talks on productivity, but the union says the remaining Sundays stand.
What to expect: TPE says it will run a limited service on each strike Sunday across its network linking Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, York, Hull, Newcastle, Scarborough and Edinburgh, with some routes likely not served at all. Revised timetables appear in journey planners a few days before; check TPE's strike page or National Rail before travelling, and expect other operators to be busier. Trains on 4 October run normally.
Why: a dispute over productivity proposals for conductors. This page will be updated if the remaining dates are suspended after the talks.
This alert was originally created on 2 October 2026.
