Harvard graduate student workers on indefinite strike over pay and protections

More than 4,000 graduate student workers represented by HGSU–UAW began an open‑ended strike on 21 April 2026 after 14 months of bargaining. As of 30 April 2026, the Harvard Graduate Students Union–UAW indefinite strike that began on 21 April continues. Harvard raised its wage and benefits offer on 29 April, and additional bargaining sessions are scheduled for 14 May, 29 May, 9 June, and 23 June; no suspension, postponement, or settlement has been announced.
