More than 1,300 members of IAM Local 778 at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant in Independence, Missouri, have been on strike since 4 April 2026 after rejecting a contract offer from Olin Winchester. The walkout, driven by concerns over wages and mandatory overtime, is disrupting output of smallβcaliber ammunition for the U.S. military.
