SMART Transportation Division
SMART-TD represents conductors and other train-crew employees across Class I freight railroads, passenger rail, short lines, and some transit systems. It is a key participant in national rail bargaining conducted under the Railway Labor Act. Given the central role of rail in U.S. freight and passenger transport, SMART-TD agreements are important for the continuity of rail operations, even though disputes are typically resolved through extended mediation processes.
