Karlsruhe region: AVG S-Bahn warning strike from 25 September 03:00 to 26 September 04:00 2026 (ver.di)

ver.di has called a warning strike at Albtal-Verkehrs-Gesellschaft (AVG), the operator of the Karlsruhe tram-train S-Bahn network, from 03:00 on Friday 25 September until 04:00 on Saturday 26 September 2026.

What to expect: cancellations and disruption on all AVG S-Bahn lines in the Karlsruhe, Bruchsal, Pforzheim and Heilbronn areas for the whole day. The trams and buses of VBK Karlsruhe, including line S2, run normally, as do Deutsche Bahn regional trains. AVG asks passengers to check the electronic timetable shortly before travelling.

Why: the strike is part of ver.di's nationwide wage round for about 6,000 employees at some 30 private railway companies (Eisenbahntarifvertrag), which also brought stoppages at regiobus Hannover and SWEG; the next negotiating round is on 5 October.
