Lower Saxony road maintenance and state ports warning strikes (Feb 5, 2026)

ver.di is staging warning strikes at road maintenance depots across Lower Saxony, limiting winter road service and prompting restrictions at tunnels and bridges. ver.di has also called employees at the state-owned ports operator NPorts and at the Lower Saxony water management authority (NLWKN) to strike; emergency and storm‑surge services remain in place under a notdienst. A demonstration is planned in Emden; affected ports include Emden, Cuxhaven/Stade, Brake, Wilhelmshaven and Norden.
