Murcia Region: bus and tram strike in Murcia and Cartagena on 14–15 September 2026

Public transport workers across the Region of Murcia are striking again on Monday 14 and Tuesday 15 September 2026, after two strike days on 10 and 11 September. The action covers urban and interurban buses in Murcia, Cartagena and the metropolitan area and the Murcia tram; only the legally required minimum services run, and on the first two days passengers reported waits of more than half an hour.

UGT, CCOO and USO want the sector agreement to guarantee an annual shift roster so drivers can plan rest days and holidays a year ahead — some operators currently give ten days' notice — and the same conditions across all companies before the region's transport contracts are re-tendered. Talks with Murcia city council were postponed to Monday 14 September; the unions say they will only call off the strike with a firm written commitment. Tuesday 15 September is also the Romería de la Fuensanta, when demand for public transport is high.
