Italy: USB general strike on Friday 30 October 2026 (rail from 21:00 on 29 October)

The grassroots union USB has filed a nationwide general strike of all public and private sectors for Friday 30 October 2026, registered with the transport ministry on 6 October.

Transport in the notice: the railway sector stops from 21:00 on Thursday 29 October to 20:59 on Friday 30 October, and motorway staff from 22:00 on 29 October. Local public transport is covered by the general strike, but its hours are not yet listed in the ministry entry; they are usually set city by city, and the local operators publish them closer to the date.

What to expect: Trenitalia and the regional rail operators run the guaranteed trains in the 06:00–09:00 and 18:00–21:00 bands and cancel a share of the rest. Check your operator a few days before.

A separate general strike by USI-CIT on the same day excludes air, rail, local and maritime transport. Another grassroots general strike, by CUB, SGB and other unions, follows on 4 December.
