Amsterdam: Schiphol security staff strike on 25-26 August 2026
TodayLast Updated:
Security staff at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport are staging short work stoppages on Tuesday 25 and Wednesday 26 August 2026 in a dispute over working conditions. Since a change of security contracts in May, staff have faced persistent problems with rosters, breaks, leave and staffing levels, and the unions FNV and CNV say talks with the airport have not produced concrete solutions.
Each stoppage lasts fifteen minutes:
- Tuesday 25 August — 3 interruptions: 10:00–10:15, 14:00–14:15 and 19:00–19:15
- Wednesday 26 August — 5 interruptions: 10:00–10:15, 12:00–12:15, 14:00–14:15, 16:00–16:15 and 19:00–19:15
The stoppages cover the departure security filters, the baggage handling areas, outposts and staff passages. Affected security lanes close during each interruption and reopen about fifteen minutes later, so passengers should expect longer queues at security checkpoints and allow extra time. The unions have not ruled out further action if no concrete improvements follow.
This alert was originally created on 25 August 2026.
